10/26/2001 Entry: "10/26 Morning"
You know, I still don't feel quite up to par. I have never had a headache last this long. So my workouts have really suffered this week. I'm starting to lose some of my motivation, I fear. I don't feel that excitement every morning before exercising lately. I'm not sure if it's because I don't feel well or if I am losing my drive. Plus I am showing another weight gain this week, which is ticking me off. I have been faithfully staying OP and have been exercising some (not as much as usual though) so I'm not sure how I could be gaining. This is what happens every time I quit smoking. I have gained 15 pounds each time I tried to quit last year. That's 30 pounds and what is causing myself to be overweight. So I am feeling discouraged again. I'm going to keep plugging away though as at least I don't have to weigh-in until next Thursday. I better see some sort of loss, especially if I stay OP that whole time.

I think trying to do all that you're doing is going to take a huge amount of determination, which I don't have any doubts that you can accomplish!
I wouldn't doubt that the headaches are a side effect of the nicotine withdrawal. Cut yourself some slack!! Your body is going through a huge adjustment right now! Obviously your heart isn't in working out this weekend. You feel like shit! Big DEAL! Next week you'll feel that much better, and then you'll enjoy your workouts again. Don't be so damn hard on yourself, and stay off that scale!!!!!
You're giving yourself the best gift ever, by quitting smoking, and if it takes you a little longer to get to your goal weight, SO WHAT!? It's taken me 12 years!!!!!!! If you continue to be so hard on yourself, you're going to get pissed off and give up! Just do the best you can, the results will follow once you're body has adjusted!

Bev expressed my own thoughts very eloquently. You're only going to sabotage all the hard work you've done by being hard on yourself! You have accomplished a lot! You KNOW why you feel crappy, you KNOW why you aren't showing a loss this week, so do NOT let yourself give up!!! Get through this week and the next one day at a time. The nicotine withdrawal WILL go away, and when it does you will be able to rededicate yourself to the weigh-loss fully. For now, do your best, and focus on kicking the smoking habit as that is much more dangerous to your health at the moment. You can do it Leah!
