02/05/2002 Entry: "2/05/02 Good intentions"

Good intentions are not going to make me lose weight, but hard work will. I managed to stay OP yesterday......UNTIL I ruined it late at night by eating 2 candy bars! I swear I have no control. Everytime I think of counting my points, I want to eat. I don't know what my problem is. I am very disappointed in myself.

So I vowed to start over today. Well so far I have already eaten way too much again. I am compulsively running to the cupboard for snacks. This is ridiculous! I didn't exercise either as I do have awful period cramps. But that is really just an excuse. For some reason I am still not finding the motivation to do this.

I have been spending my morning reading about wedding ideas and maybe it's stressing me out a bit. I know it's exciting but on the other hand, I feel the same nervousness I know I'll be feeling the day of the wedding.

I've learned that I eat whenever I am stressed, angry, bored, happy, etc. About the only time I can't eat is if I have huge butterflies in my stomach or if I am sick.

I am going to keep trying though. I know I already ruined my day today. Tomorrow I will try again.

Leah... one thing that has helped me, is to just consider it one ruined meal, or one ruined snack... don't let it ruin your whole day of eating. Just kick yourself in the ass, forgive yourself, and get back at it!

*hugs*

I agree with Bev. Also make sure to keep tons of "healthy" snacks around that you still like. Such as tortilla chip and salsa, low fat ice cream, low fat cupcakes, brownies, cookies, and fruits and veggies, etc. That way if you just can't stop snacking on certain days, you don't do as much damage. It's helped me tremendously. Oh, and soup and cereal. Cereal has been my savior many times! Just remember, this is a lifestyle--not a diet. No guilt and move on, as Dotti's Website says!

Do you like baby carrots? When I feel like binge eating or compulsively eating, I try to eat baby carrots. I can eat a whole bag! But they're good for you and not so damaging. Cereal is a great suggestion too - I hear cocopuffs are a great low point snack! :)

Oh Leah...hugs for you. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time right now. Please try and do as Bev said, though, and just let it be one ruined meal instead of a whole day. Also, something that helps me is chewing gum, I find that if I have a craving, if I chew a piece of gum, that usually will make it go away. Hugs!
