Thanks so much for the encouragement, Gaile. I really need it! Yesterday was awful! I swear my cravings are getting worse each day. I *almost* caved in, but then Shawn came over and distracted me hehe. I will have to try out those carrots. Thanks for the tip!

I'm going on a scavenger hunt today. It should be fun! I'm not sure what to expect but I bet it will be crazy. I'll have to blog about it later. Until then, please keep me in your thoughts as I battle another day without ciggs. :)

I think I overdid it with the Taebo the other day. I'm still so very sore so I didn't do the video yesterday or today. I will try it again tomorrow and take it a little easier. Meanwhile, I'm working on my abs. I learned a wonderful lower ab exercise from the Physcial Therapists when I worked in the PT Dept. in PA. This exercise doesn't put any strain on your back and is so easy. This is the one the PT's recommend for all women as it worked the parts of the abs that we really need to strenthen to help with descrease the pressure we place on our lower back and increase the muscles etc.

What you do is lie flat on your back with your arms spread out flat. You then lift both legs up in the air and keep your kneeds slightly bent and spread apart a few inches with your feet parallel to the ceiling. Then you gently thrust or roll your pelvis up in the air only a few inches. Make sure you do not strain your back. Your bottom will only lift an inch or two off the ground and your back will never move. I guess this is much safer than your typical crunches.

Day 4 of no smoking went horrible. I spoke too soon yesterday as I really was craving a cigg pretty bad by last night. Today was even worse! Also, I took the patch off as I've been having horrible nightmares (more horrible than usual) since I put it on 3 days ago. So that was a complete waste of money! So I'm flushing out the rest of the nicotine today and tomorrow and hope I am back to normal soon. I'm in the rationalization stage. I'm thinking maybe I could have just "one" . But I will not give in! I know I can beat this! Shawn was such a sweetie and got me the most encouraging card yesterday for quitting smoking. He is so proud of me, so how could I disappoint him? I will win this time even if it kills me. Tomorrow is another day.

I am finally taking a moment to update my links, add new ones, and clean out some of the dead ones.

Thanks Bev. Actually, day 2 was much easier and I hope today will be even easier yet! I think I have this thing licked! Woohoo! I have my weak moments and that's usually when I either grab a piece of gum or get busy with something else. I've been doing more walking etc. as I have ants in my pants! LOL

Thanks Gaile for your words of encouragement. I think I'm going to beat it this time!! :)

This is day 3 of no smoking for me! I am so excited that I made it this long without a cigg. I've had some major cravings but am trying to keep busy doing something else instead. Then the craving passes and I'm good for another hour or two. I will make it this time!

Ever since I turned 30, I've really been thinking more about my health and lifestyle etc. I am making an effort to eat healthier and get into shape for the first time since the tornado. I already started my Taebo videos again yesterday and hope I can stay motivated. Plus Shawn has some nice exercise equipment so I may exercise over there once in awhile if I get the urge. My goal is to get toned, lose that extra weight, and just basically get healthy!

I don't believe in dieting though and love food too much to go without any of my favorites. However, I do eat a lot of vegetables and don't overdo it on the fat so I should be able to slim down just by adding the exercise to my diet. I basically know what foods to avoid and cut calories and fat where I can. So we'll see.

My love life is still going fantastic! I honestly never believed I would be this happy and content ever again. Ever since the deaths of my husband and son there has been this huge chunk of my life missing (of course) and also the joy. I never thought I'd be able to feel inner happiness again. Though I know I will never be as carefree as I was before my loss, I am feeling feelings that I thought were long dead. So I have hope again that I may have a normal life yet. I'm not very good with words and could never describe exactly what I'm feeling about this whole thing so I'll drop it for now. Maybe the words will come to me later. :)

Thanks Bev! Actually, you came to my mind when I first made the final decision to quit. I remember you talking about it awhile back. I made it through the first day anyway (I'm going to bed soon) so I hope tomorrow is a little easier.....though it wasn't too bad.

I really like your new pink design!. I wish I was feeling as creative as I know I'm due for a new look! :)

Today is a big day for me. I have quit smoking and today is day 1. I've been smoking for 18 years and am trying to quit with the patch and so far so good. I'm going on vacation down to Miami with some friends at the end of this month so I want to arrive smoke-free as I'm the only smoker in the group. So please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I know if I can get past the first couple of days I'll be ok. I'm going to quit the patch a few days before I leave for Miami just to make sure all traces of Nicotine are out of my system. Wish me luck! :)

I forgot to mention, I'll be going to the Packer game in Miami while I'm there. Woohoo, go PACKERS!! I'll be sure to wear my Favre jersey and maybe even the Cheesehead hat ha-ha.
